Tomás Gubbins is a composer, guitarist, educator and improviser working within experimental and improvised music. Drawing on influences from chamber music, contemporary music and jazz, his work explores the spaces between genres and artistic disciplines.

His practice focuses on the relationship between sound, image and space, and he is particularly interested in graphic scores and alternative forms of musical notation. Alongside his musical work, he is active as a self-taught designer, creating visual identities, posters and album artwork for projects at the intersection of music and art.

He has collaborated with artists across South America, Europe and Scandinavia, and has performed internationally in a wide range of ensemble and improvisational settings.

Tomás has over a decade of teaching experience from Chile, Cuba, Sweden and Denmark. His approach emphasizes creativity, listening and experimentation, encouraging students to develop their own artistic voice through exploration, collaboration and critical reflection.

After studies and early professional experience in Chile, Cuba and the United States, he settled in Scandinavia, where he is now based.
